Goin' Green Chorus Concert & Green School Celebration
This Spring, under the direction of our Vocal Music Teacher Mrs. Mary Griffin, our 4th and 5th grade Vocal Chorus learned "Green" songs to celebrate our green school efforts throughout the year. Our chorus will perform these green-themed songs for our school community on Wednesday, April 9th at Rouse Theater. During the school day on April 9th, our vocal chorus & hand chime choir will perform our green-themed concert for our entire school body as part of our 2014 Green School Celebration. Students across all grade levels are writing poems, learning the Recycle Rap, & playing green-themed songs on their recorders to participate in the fun. Some of the songs being performed this year are Every Day is Earth Day, Ecology Rap, We are the People of the 21st Century, Fan Fare for A New Planet, Bring It On Back, Recycle Rap, America the Beautiful, What To Do With a Litter Critter, & Pass It On Down. Our entire student body will sing the Recycle Rap. Pictured is our Fourth Grade Chorus preparing for our Spring performance.

Longfellow's Walk To School Celebrations
As a neighborhood school our students are encouraged to walk or bike to school each and every day. Our school community celebrates our neighborhood school history and the opportunity to lessen our school's carbon footprint, by using responsible transportation methods such as walking, biking, scooting , or hiking to school each day. Each Fall, Longfellow collaborates with our PTA to celebrate Walk to School Day where even our bus riders get to walk to school for part of their morning journey. Not only did we have all of our Longfellow students participate but approximately 125 members of our learning community joined in on the fun this Fall. This year we have added a second Walk to School Celebration that will take place during our Green Week to highlight and highlight our Green School initiatives, serve as a Community Recycling Collection Day for our TerraCycle upcycling program, and celebrate our Inaugural Green Week at Longfellow.
